Smalley Institute at Rice University

November 14, 2011

The Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology is the first building you see when you enter from an entrance off Rice boulevard. It may not be so prominent, but it is a work of Antoine Predock, the Arizonian architect who loves desert themes. Although have to adapt to Rice’s rigid style, you can find a little ‘desert’ in its secluded courtyard, shadowed by a ‘mountain’ that houses an auditorium. I personally think the building reminds me of human skeleton. Go there and see if you agree with me.
