Brochstein Pavilion at Rice University

November 28, 2011

Houston’s Rice University is known for its consistent use of red bricks over all of its buildings, except for a few such as this new student lounge. With its pure white color and featherweight structure, Brochstein Pavilion becomes a welcoming shelter for all, providing easy access among introvert brick-dominated buildings. All the more comfortable for those who sit here, as wide roof overhangs protect them from harsh natural light yet still allow some brightness to come through.
