Probably the oldest hotel in Singapore still in operation, the Raffles Hotel is loaded with nostalgic memory of British colonialism. In a fast-changing, super-modern Singapore of today, this place becomes a special legacy. It reminds Singaporeans and tourists alike, that Singapore has a long history, with a close ties with the west (the British). For westerners, it is a welcoming message that despite being in a foreign place, they can feel at home at the same time.
